Aeroflot Group accounted for half of all passengers flying with Russian airlines during the New Year holiday season. Between December 29 and January 8, one in two travelers choosing Russian carriers boarded flights operated by Aeroflot, Rossiya, or Pobeda.
During this festive period, Aeroflot Group airlines transported over 1.5 million passengers, marking an increase of nearly 3% compared to the previous year. Domestic travel accounted for more than 1.15 million passengers, with a year-on-year rise of 1%, while international traffic experienced a robust growth of 9.5%.
From December 29 to January 8, the Group’s airlines conducted over 10,300 flights. Aeroflot itself carried more than 810,000 passengers, Pobeda flew 419,000, and Rossiya served 305,000.
The most popular domestic routes from Moscow during the holidays included St. Petersburg, Sochi, Kaliningrad, Yekaterinburg, and Mineralnye Vody. For international journeys, top destinations from Sheremetyevo Airport were Dubai, Phuket, Istanbul, Yerevan, and Bangkok.
As the clock struck midnight on January 1 (Moscow time), 47 Aeroflot Group aircraft were airborne. A total of 9,653 passengers, 96 pilots, and 306 flight attendants celebrated the arrival of the New Year mid-flight.
